KINO ARTS is a boutique studio founded by filmmakers Keith Sicat and Sari Dalena specializing in feature films and long-format documentaries. Their dozen-plus works include the award-winners ""Rigodon"", the tropical gothic ""Woman of the Ruins"", and the science fiction film ""ALIMUOM"". They also do commercial branded shorts for international clients as well as educational films.
Their development slate includes a folk horror feature and an animated project based on the comic book ""OFW: Outerspace Filipino Workers"" which was presented at the Annecy MIFA Pitches, BIFAN, MDEC Kre8tif Malaysia, the DGPI/Cinemalaya Pitches, MPA World IP Day Pitches, and the Locarno Film Festival’s “Match Me!” program as well as selected for the American Film Showcase (AFS) workshop, SIKAP workshop, and the prestigious FULL CIRCLE LAB. That project was cited by animation industry website Cartoon Brew as amongst the ""Five Most Promising Projects in Southeast Asia"".
Sein Lyan Tun is a filmmaker from Myanmar, currently based in Paris at the Récollets. His latest short film Everybody’s Gotta Love Sometimes (2023) was selected at Wide Angle of the Busan International Film Festival and received a Special Mention from the Sonje Award jury members. Also his short film Late Blooming In A Lonely Summer Day (2021) has been selected in various international competitions such as Winterthur International Short Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and Locarno Film Festival. The Beer Girl In Yangon (2024) is his first feature film project, which was part of Open Doors at Locarno Film Festival 2021, selected at Cannes L′atelier Cinéfondation 2022 and Torino Film Lab 2023. His first feature documentary The Bamboo Family received IDFA Development Grants in 2022 and The Tan Ean Kiam Foundation SGIFF Southeast Asian Documentary (SEA-DOC) Grant in 2024. It won the Cannes Docs Award and the DOK Leipzig Award at VdR-Pitching 2023.
SOUTHERN LANTERN STUDIOS, founded by Filipino filmmaker Sheron Dayoc, is a creative think tank and production company for multimedia short and long films. The company's debut feature, "Halaw" (2010), premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, winning the NETPAC Special Jury Prize, and received multiple awards at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival and other international events.
Sonny Calvento is a director, writer and producer based in Manila, Philippines. At the age of 19, he worked as a drama writer for the largest broadcasting network in the Philippines before transitioning to filmmaking.
His first feature film “The Decaying” (Nabubulok) (2017) premiered internationally in Busan International Film Festival.
Calvento’s first short film “Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss” (2019) became the first Filipino short film at the Sundance Film Festival. It also premiered in Locarno Film Festival, Palm Springs ShortsFest and Shanghai International Film Festival, among others. The film won the Audience Award at Locarno Shorts Week 2023.
His second short film “Primetime Mother (2023)” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was showcased at the American Film Institute Festival, Palm Springs ShortsFest, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and Red Sea International Film Festival, among others. “Primetime Mother” serves as the proof-of-concept for his second feature film, “Mother Maybe”.
